Peer Review

Diagnosing and solving problems within existing construction provides Engineering Diagnostics with unique insight for preventing problems in new buildings. The purpose of a Peer Review of architectural or engineering drawings and specifications prepared by another firm is to find potential problems before construction begins.

Engineering Diagnostics determines if the construction documents specify materials and systems that will likely lead to deficiencies:

High Maintenance Details

Specifying a field-painted finish instead of a factory-applied finish.

 Details Leading to Premature Failure

Specifying an inadequate amount of surface preparation prior to sealant installation.

Details that are Problematic to Construct

Detailing a vapor retarder that can not be installed due to the type of wall assembly that has been chosen or due to the construction sequence.

 Unacceptable Details per Industry Standards

Specifying a fire-rated roof assembly, but not matching Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements.

Referencing incorrect or inappropriate National Standards

Not including appropriate Industry Standards

 Unacceptable Details per Manufacturer’s Requirements

Detailing base flashings that are inadequate in height to meet manufacturer’s warranty requirements.
